Rice Water For Hair| Healthy Hair Routine

Rice water is thought to contain many of the vitamins and minerals contained in rice like amino acids, B vitamins, vitamin E, minerals and antioxidants.

Rice water detangles the hair and makes it smoother, shinier, and stronger. It also helps with hair growth.

According to Dr Brian, all you have to do is apply the rice water to the scalp for hair growth, and it can repair damaged hair too.

Research from a 2010 study back this theory up suggesting rice water may reduce surface friction and increase hair elasticity.

It is also said a research facility in Japan has developed an imaging technique that visualised the strengthening effect of inositol(a component found in rice water) on hair.

How to use rice water on hair:

What you need:

  • 1 cup organic rice 
  • Bowl
  • Strainer
  • Water

Instructions:

  • Rinse the uncooked rice and drain the water.
  • Place the washed rice in a bowl and add 1 – 1 ½ cups of water.

  • Let it soak for at least an hour but can leave it be for up to 24 hours.
  • Strain the rice and save the water.

How to use:

  • Shampoo and rinse your hair.
  • Massage the rice water into your hair and scalp and let it sit for at least 20 minutes to an hour.
  • Rinse your hair.

Not all of us will have organic rice, and that’s ok. Other methods state to use any kind of rice – but the process is the same.
